Remote sensing gallery

The Remote Sensing Gallery is an ongoing collection of imagery constructed from satellite data and represent various examples of how remote sensing imagery can be used in cross-curricular studies. All images have been constructed here at the Institute. If you are a teacher or college professor and would like to learn about constructing your own images, please contact the Institute for upcoming professional development workshops.

The images below were acquired from Landsat 8 on August 26, 2015. Each image shows a different combination of bands. Landsat not only sees visible light that our own eyes can detect (ex: red, green, blue), but it can also see in the infrared which our eyes cannot detect. Using image interpretation software, we can turn Landsat’s infrared data into useful colorful imagery.
