What Did We Catch?

Dear Educator,

Palmyra Cove Nature Park offers environmental education activities for grades K-12. Our activities are hands-on, interdisciplinary, and adhere to New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards. Lessons are designed to engage students in observing, identifying, questioning and analyzing the wonders of nature.. We divide students into small groups where they can ask questions and get personal attention. We work with you to plan a visit that meets your curriculum needs.

The laboratory for activities is our 250-acre park. Our forest and wetland habitats allow students to have a firsthand experience with nature. New Jersey Audubon researchers have recorded 348 species of plants, 254 species of birds, 16 species of mammals, 7 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 49 species of fish. Palmyra Cove Nature Park is an oasis in an urban landscape.

In addition to our park, we have a state-of-the-art exhibit hall and classroom, which we call our Environmental Discovery Center. A picnic area is adjacent to the Environmental Discovery Center where classes may have a lunch or snack.

It is our intention that Palmyra Cove Nature Park and Environmental Discovery Center will become a premier teaching and learning center for all ages. Toward that end we invite you to share an environmental education experience with us.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Sincerely,

Edward C. Sanderson
