NOTICE: Upcoming Dredging Activities at Palmyra Cove Nature Park

Dear Visitors,

We would like to inform you of important upcoming activities that will take place within Palmyra Cove Nature Park. Over the next few months, the Army Corps of Engineers will be utilizing a specialized dredge cell to conduct essential dredging projects on the Delaware River.

What is Dredging? Dredging is a crucial process that involves the removal of sediment and debris from the bottom of water bodies. This activity helps in maintaining the navigational depth, improving water flow, and enhancing the overall environmental quality of the area.

Why is this happening? The Delaware River is a vital transportation link, and regular maintenance, including dredging, is essential for its continued safe and efficient operation.

How will this affect your visit? While we strive to minimize the impact on our visitors, please be aware that there may be temporary disruptions to certain trails within the park. Some areas may be closed or rerouted to ensure the safety of both guests and workers.

Trail Access: During the dredging process, certain trails may be closed temporarily to ensure the safety of our visitors and workers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Please follow on-site signage for the latest information on trail access, and feel free to ask our park staff for assistance or directions to alternative routes.

Please click on the Palmyra Cove Trail Map under the “Explore” drop down menu to view the Dredge Cell area that will be impacted. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our park staff or visit our Environmental STEM Center.

Thank you for your continued support of Palmyra Cove Nature Park. We look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy your visit despite these temporary changes.

Best Regards,

John D. Moore, Executive Director PCNP/IEO
